The rules for using this website.

These terms govern your use of dunningfamilydental.com, what you can rely on, what we don't promise, and how the relationship between visitor and practice works. The plain version: use the site for its intended purpose, don't try to break it, and treat information here as educational rather than as personal medical advice.

The short version.

This is a public information site for a dental practice. It's not a replacement for an exam, not medical advice for any individual situation, and not a contract for treatment.

Plainly stated

Acceptance of terms.

By accessing or using dunningfamilydental.com (the "Site"), operated by Dunning Family Dental ("we," "us," the "Practice") at 310 Jansen Avenue, Johnstown, NY 12095, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

These Terms work alongside the Practice's Privacy Policy and (if you use text-message communication) SMS Terms. Together those three documents describe the relationship between you and the Practice with respect to this Site and any related communications.

Educational content, not personal medical advice.

The information on this Site, service descriptions, blog posts, FAQs, treatment overviews, is general educational content. It is not a substitute for an in-person dental exam, a clinical recommendation from a qualified dentist, or a treatment plan customized to your situation.

Do not delay seeking professional dental care because of something you read on this Site. If you have a dental emergency, call (518) 842-3220 during office hours, or seek emergency care if needed. Reliance on Site content for any treatment decision is at your own risk.

No doctor-patient relationship is created by Site use.

Visiting this Site, reading the content, sending a contact-form message, or calling the office does not, by itself, create a doctor-patient relationship between you and Dr. D'Addio or any other Practice provider. A doctor-patient relationship begins only when you have been seen as a patient and Dr. D'Addio has agreed to provide treatment.

Until that point, communications are general inquiries and are not protected by the doctor-patient privilege in the same way that established-patient communications are.

Accuracy of information.

We make reasonable efforts to keep Site content accurate and current, but dentistry evolves and details. office hours, insurance acceptance, service offerings, fees, can change without immediate Site updates. The Practice doesn't warrant that all content is complete, accurate, or up-to-date at any given moment.

For anything that matters to your specific situation. "do you take my insurance?", "is this service still offered?", "what does this cost?", call (518) 842-3220 to confirm with the front desk before acting on Site content.

Intellectual property.

All content on this Site, text, photography, graphics, logos, layout, code, is owned by or licensed to Dunning Family Dental. You may view, print, and share Site content for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce, modify, or use Site content for any commercial purpose without prior written permission.

Photography of Dr. D'Addio and the practice team appears with their consent. Patient photography is not used on this Site without separate written authorization.

When using the Site, you agree not to:

  • Use the Site for any illegal or unauthorized purpose;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Site, server, or related systems;
  • Submit false information through contact forms;
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or copy Site content beyond what's normal for search engines and AI assistants we explicitly allow in robots.txt;
  • Interfere with another user's use of the Site; or

Common questions

Terms questions, plainly answered.

Does using this website make me a patient?
No. Visiting the site, reading articles, calling for information, or sending a contact-form message doesn't make you a patient of Dunning Family Dental. You become a patient only when you've been seen in person and Dr. D'Addio has agreed to provide ongoing care. Until then, your relationship with the practice is that of a prospective patient or general visitor, not an established patient. This distinction matters legally, established patients have certain protections (continuity of care, records access, prescription continuity) that prospective patients don't have until the relationship is formed. To become a patient, the path is to call (518) 842-3220, schedule a first appointment, and complete the visit. After that first visit, you're an established patient.
Can I rely on information in blog posts for my specific situation?
Use it as educational background, not as personalized advice. Blog posts cover common scenarios in general terms, the difference between root canal and extraction, when crowns make sense, how teeth whitening works, but your specific dental situation might have factors that change the right answer. A small detail (a fracture pattern, an unusual root anatomy, a medical history factor) can shift the recommendation completely. The pattern that works best: read the blog content to build general understanding, then call (518) 842-3220 with the specific question. Five minutes on the phone with the front desk or a brief consultation with Dr. D'Addio gets you a recommendation specific to your situation. The blog is the warm-up; the consultation is the call.
What if information on the site turns out to be wrong or out of date?
We work to keep the site accurate, but content can lag reality. Office hours, insurance acceptance, specific service availability, pricing, and policies can change between site updates. If you find something that looks wrong or stale, please let the front desk know, call (518) 842-3220, and we'll review and update it. For anything that matters to your decision (whether we take your insurance, whether we offer a specific service, when we're open on a holiday week), always confirm by phone before relying on what the site says. The terms of use limit our liability for outdated content, but the practical answer is: a five-minute call removes the uncertainty.
Can I share or copy content from this site?
Personal sharing is fine, emailing an article to a family member, posting a link on social media, printing a page for your own reference. What's not allowed is reproducing site content commercially, copying large portions for another dental practice's website, or removing attribution. Photography of Dr. D'Addio, the practice team, and the office is licensed for use only on this site and in practice marketing materials. Search engines and AI assistants are explicitly allowed to crawl and reference site content per the robots.txt file, that's normal use. Automated scraping at scale or without authorization is not. If you have a specific use case in mind (a media article, an educational reference, an academic citation), call the office and we'll usually grant written permission.
Where do I file a complaint or dispute about the practice?
Start with the practice directly, call (518) 842-3220 and ask to speak with Dr. D'Addio about whatever the concern is. Most issues get resolved by direct conversation faster than any formal process. If a concern can't be resolved that way and you want to escalate, dental practices in New York are regulated by the New York State Education Department's Office of the Professions and the New York State Board of Dentistry. Their complaint process is documented at op.nysed.gov. For billing or insurance disputes, your insurance company's grievance process is usually the most direct path. The terms above specify Fulton County, New York as the venue for any legal disputes, but most concerns never need to go that far.
