About Dunning Family Dental
A local dental practice built the long way.
Dunning Family Dental traces back to 1979. Today, Dr. Anthony J. D'Addio carries that same conservative, by-name approach forward in Johnstown, serving families across Fulton and Montgomery Counties.
Family dentistry, the long way.
Many of the families on our schedule have been with the practice for years, some across two and three generations. That continuity is the brand.

The legacy
Built by two generations of Dunnings, carried forward by Dr. Ted, then Dr. D'Addio.
The practice was built by two generations of the Dunning family, continued under Dr. Ted Marciniszyn, and carried forward by Dr. D'Addio, who joined in 2000 and purchased the practice in 2014. The name stayed because the standard stayed: careful care, long relationships, and recommendations made with the patient's future in mind.
Founded in 1979
The Dunning name has been part of the local dental community since 1979. The original practice set the standards that still shape a visit today: careful, conservative, and built on long relationships.
Continuity since 2000
Dr. D'Addio has been in the chair since 2000, first as Dr. Ted's associate, then as owner since 2014. Most patients see the same dentist year after year.
Relocated to Johnstown
After many years in Amsterdam, the practice relocated to 310 Jansen Avenue in Johnstown. Same team, same standards, an easier drive for many existing patients.
Local roots, local team
Dr. D'Addio grew up in Perth, NY and graduated from Broadalbin-Perth High School. Associate dentist Dr. Steven Bauman, DDS, and the front-desk and hygiene teams live and work primarily across Fulton and Montgomery Counties.
What we stand for
What shapes a visit here.
This is not assembly-line dentistry. The schedule, the explanations, the insurance posture, and the recommendations all serve the same standard: enough time to do the right work well.
-
1
Right work, right amount, right time
Treatment is recommended only when it serves the patient's actual oral health. No upsell scripts, no padding the chart.
-
2
Plain-language explanations
Findings, options, cost, and trade-offs are explained in words patients can use.
-
3
Long-term thinking
Recommendations are made with the assumption that you will be a patient here for years.
The team
By name, every visit.
When you call the office, you know who is picking up. When you sit in the chair, you know who is cleaning your teeth. That is the point.
Front desk
Sara, Kasey, Francine, and Maggie handle scheduling, forms, and insurance questions.
Hygienists
Amber, Tracey, Robin, and Emma provide cleanings, periodontal maintenance, and preventive care.
Doctors
Dr. Anthony J. D'Addio (Tufts DMD, practice owner since 2014) and Dr. Steven Bauman (University of Colorado DDS, St. Joseph's Hospital residency) provide examinations, restorative care, cosmetic dentistry, and implant restorations.
Specialists
When care needs orthodontics, oral surgery, or another specialty, the office coordinates trusted referrals across Fulton and Montgomery Counties and the Capital Region.
Insurance posture
Honest about how billing works.
We are out of network so the practice can preserve time, continuity, and the ability to recommend care based on the patient's actual needs. It keeps the conversation centered on health, not insurance math. That does not mean patients cannot use benefits. Many still do, and we file the claim as a courtesy on their behalf.
Insurance and paymentCareCredit accepted
Financing option for treatment plans that benefit from spreading the cost.
Courtesy claims submitted
We file the claim with your insurance on your behalf so you do not have to.
