New patients

Your first visit should feel prepared before you arrive.

Call the office, complete your forms, bring a few basics, and arrive knowing what comes next. We keep the process simple on purpose so the visit itself is quiet and focused on your health.

A short phone call sets up a simpler visit.

Sara, Kasey, Francine, or Maggie can confirm what type of appointment fits your situation and send the right Dental Intel forms.

Prepared, not rushed

Before your first appointment

First visit checklist.

A short, plain-language checklist so the visit runs without surprises.

Forms

After you call, Dental Intel forms can be sent by email or text. You can also complete paperwork at the office when you arrive.

Bring

Photo ID, insurance card if applicable, and a current medication list.

Arrival

Arrive five to ten minutes early so the front desk can confirm forms and answer practical questions.

Tone

The first visit is not a sales pitch. It is a conversation, an exam, and a clear explanation of what your mouth needs.

Insurance, said up front

Plain-language insurance before the visit.

Dunning Family Dental is not in-network with dental insurance plans, but we submit claims as a courtesy. Patients pay the practice at the visit, then insurance reimburses the patient directly according to the plan. CareCredit is accepted. Medicaid and Fidelis are not accepted. For specific questions, call with your plan details and the front desk will walk through what to expect.

Insurance and payment

CareCredit

Accepted as a payment option for treatment plans that benefit from spreading the cost over months.

Not accepted

Medicaid and Fidelis are not accepted. Call the office with any other insurance question.

Visit flow

A calmer first visit, step by step.

By the time you are in the chair, most of the administrative work is done. The visit itself is what it should be: a conversation about your health, followed by careful care.

New patient questions

Fast answers for practical questions.

How do I schedule?
Call 518-842-3220 during office hours. A short call helps the team book the right visit type and send the correct forms in advance.
Can I fill out forms at the office?
Yes. Dental Intel forms arrive by email or text after you call, but if you prefer paper forms, arrive about ten minutes early and the front desk will help you.
What should I bring?
Photo ID, insurance card if applicable, and a current medication list. That is enough for the team to start with the full picture.
Do you accept my insurance?
Dunning is not in-network with any insurance plans, but most patients still use their benefits. We file the claim as a courtesy, and the reimbursement check comes to you in 2 to 4 weeks. Patients pay the difference between the practice fee and the insurance reimbursement. CareCredit, HSA, and FSA cards are accepted. Medicaid and Fidelis are not. See the insurance and payment page for the full flow, or call 518-842-3220 with your plan for a realistic estimate.
Do you offer emergency appointments?
Call the office. The team will triage the concern and find the soonest appropriate opening.
What if I have not been to the dentist in years?
That is common. The visit starts with listening and a careful exam, not judgment. We build a plan from where you are today.
